Richard Cadell

Richard began his showbiz life at the early age of eight with an inherited Punch and Judy show. By the age of twelve he had his own radio show on Radio Leicester and three years later won the Young Magician of the Year award, actually appearing on Sooty's television show with Matthew Corbett as a result! Richard was awarded membership of the Inner Magic Circle and became one of the country's leading illusionists. His sensational mid-air vanishment of a motorcycle earned him appearances in many theatre and TV productions and countless pantomines and variety shows all over the world. Everything changed in 1998 when Matthew Corbett announced his retirement and Richard was thrilled to be chosen as Sooty's new presenter. Four years on and Richard, Sooty, Sweep and Soo have performed hundreds of live shows and have just completed their fourth TV series for CITV. Richard has also written and directed for Sooty and helped to develop a fabulus range of Sooty magic tricks and videos. In 2002 Sooty achieves a record-breaking fifty years on TV and Richard and Sooty are planning some very special on-screen celebrations... watch out!
